Vidya S. Prasad, known in the art world as Vichala Dixit, is a Bangalore-based visual artist with over two decades of experience in contemporary and traditional art forms. Rooted in Banavasi, the land of the first Kadamba dynasty, her work reflects a unique blend of heritage, nature, and conceptual expression.
A Gold Medalist in Botany from Karnataka College, Dharwad, she further trained in the arts with a BVA Foundation from KEN School of Arts, Bangalore, and enriched her understanding of the human psyche with an M.A. in Psychology. This multidisciplinary background informs her art with intellectual depth, emotional resonance, and aesthetic sophistication.
Vidya’s oeuvre spans contemporary works, Mysore paintings, conceptual pieces, and nature-inspired compositions. Her signature style is characterized by bold and confident brushstrokes, soft watercolour textures, and thematic storytelling that connects mind, nature, and soul.
Beyond the canvas, she is also a mentor and educator, guiding young talents at Hongiranaa Fine Arts, and actively participates as an anchor and presenter at TV shows and cultural art events.
Her philosophy resonates in her words:
“When art gets blessings from Mother Nature, it adds an extra glow to the work.”
